Garage install of 14-50R
« on: June 03, 2014, 01:33:23 AM »

Here are two boxes I am considering to install in my garage.

My biggest question I would have is do I have to do a GFI breaker ($170 for a 50amp breaker vs $20 for none) since I would be installing this in my garage. I would likely cut my drywall where I needed to run wires and install a large piece of 1/2" hardwood where I mounted the boxes and over the hole for the wires.

Would require a 125amp? breaker back at the panel for all outlets to work at the same time or 60amps for just the 14-50 or both the alternative outlets 30 Amp (TT30R) and 20 Amp GFCI Receptacle (5-20R2GFI). This unit is 16" tall so not small by any means.

60amp back at breaker, likely could only use one outlet at a time. Size isn't too much of an issue.

50amp back at breaker but only 14-50 outlet.
