Detailed review of the electric BMW C Evolution
« on: May 28, 2014, 05:51:51 PM »

Here is a very detailed translated review from a top French web site of the electric BMW C Evolution scooter. Again, apologies for the translations, but I do think they're getting better...  8)

Read the review in my language (French).

A great scooter at a great price! I'm jealous of the 4 seconds 0-100 km/h, a scooter doing better than my Zero S!

I thought it was a great review, also.  Thanks Mike.   :)  However, the claim of 0-62 mph in only 4 seconds seems suspect to me, considering the vehicle's almost 600 pound weight and 48 hp maximum power output.

I found the French replacement of "internal combustion" with "thermal" to be kind of cute.   ;)

Thermal engine is accurate, sometimes they are also called heat engines.

0-100 km/h in 4 seconds does seem rather suspect. BMW claims 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, which is reasonable (and quite good, better than the "thermal" engine equivalents) given the scooter's weight and power.

Thanks. I was pretty amazed by the claim, and checked with BMW, but it's their figure. The power, top speed, and battery range have all been downgraded, so I guess the engine is much more powerful. In the article it says they only use the battery between 20 and 80%, meaning they can go further, and faster, but software-wise have limited it to keep the battery in check.

Since my Zero DS fell through (thanks to repeated SNAFUs at Zero), this now has my keen interest (it would be my first scooter). Either that or wait for the Bultaco to arrive (unless Brammo beats them).

Yes, I thought the thermal came out nice. I had ICE, but thermal spoke to me... :)
