Noob here
« on: April 16, 2014, 11:03:45 PM »

Just joined the forum browsing all sorts of forums and feel that this one may be the most active electric motorcycle forum. If someone would please suggest to me which forum is the most active, I would hate to have to register to 3 forums just to read and post.

Little background of myself and my motorcycle "career"

This me in Siberia... I took a motorcycle trip in 2011. I left my house in TN and somehow ended up in Magadan Russia.

I have also played with some electric airplanes.

tried a brammo

All that has lead me to this....

Which happens to have one of these...

With all that being said I am looking for some input and advice on modifications of my 2011 Zero X. How can I get more power, more speed, longer range, all within a reasonable budget?

I have upgraded to an AXE 4844 and maxed out all the slider bars for more power. Thoughts? Inputs?

I would like to have an onboard charger on the bike to ride to work and school and plug it in there. I thought it would be possible to mount the Delta-Q the same way it is mounted on the XU. Is is possible to make something to allow a j1772 plug? Thoughts? Inputs?

Upgrading the battery? What are my options?

Gearing, does anyone have any gear ratio calculations for me? Looking for higher top speed, nothing extravagant but to be able to do 55 mph would be great!

That's quite a collection of adventures. Do you know Chip Yates?

You can buy UL-listed J1772 inlets here:
http://modularevpower.com
http://www.manzanitamicro.com/products?page=shop.browse&category_id=41&vmcchk=1

Non UL-listed here:

Zero also sold an official J1772 plug for 2011 and newer bikes. Note that an inlet by itself will not make the bike charge more quickly, you will need a higher-power charger for that.

DoctorBass has built some add-on batteries to extend range for his 2011 DS.

Zero sold a street-legal version of the X in 2011 that had a 61 tooth rear sprocket that would do 53 mph max. You might call Zero and see if they have any spare rear sprockets.

I do, I used to work for him.

Thank you! For the links!

I will contact DocterBass

I have a 61T and 51T sprocket from Zero that I will be testing this weekend.
