Sevcon GEn4 Size4 and stronger motor for Enertia Plus
« on: January 21, 2014, 11:31:54 AM »

Hello

did you already test any modifications to the power train of the enertia plus?

From my point of view, the size 2 really limits the current at 250 amps, thus the size 4 could help

The perm 120 is not that powerfull here. I suppose the perm 150 does not fit into the frame, maybe some engine like this could help?http://www.ev-power.com.au/-SEVCON-Motor-Controllers-.html

In case of any experience, or maybe you have some parts to sell, pls contact me. I really would like to get the rubber burning (without a match)  8). Or at least, accelerate in 3 seconds to 50 km/h.

The sevcons are very difficult to program if you arent an OEM so I would suggest either selling up and buying a more powerful bike or ditch the Sevcon and try something different like a Kelly.  You would have to investigate how the BMS etc. communicates with the controller to see if it is possible.

Sevcon won't work with the stock PMS120 used on Enertia. They use a completely different and incompatible encoder (SPI). You'd have to convert over to another encoder to work with anything besides the PG Drives Sigmadrive, or find another larger sigmadrive/compatible controller.

This I don´t understand. Brammo uses a Sevcon Gen4 Size 2 together with PMS 120. And - just by reading the data sheet - the Size 4 should have the same software and hardware compared to the Size 2 (except of course more power). Why should a Size 4 not work?

Sorry, I thought they were still using PMS120 + PG Drives, not sevcon.

Also, I didn't think that Brammo was using Perm motors anymore. If they are, then they've ordered a different encoder to work with Sevcon.

Enertia Plus uses PMS126 .. not sure if that uses a different encoder.

I think it has to be something different than the original PMS120's. According to the controller manuals....Sevcon doesn't use the SPI type encoder interface. A/B, UVW and Sin/Cos is all they offer in the Gen4 model line, unless for some reason its custom.

At Heinzmann is stated, that the pms 120 .. 156 are preadjusted for sevcon. So, it should work from stock (and it works  ;))

But I cannot find a data sheet of pms 126 - and you are right, this one is inside the enertia plus.

Know knowing ´bout the motor positon system, the Motenergy ME1114 Brushless Motor 72V 24kW has a sin/cos positioning systen, thus it should work with sevcon? Ok, I can give the answer to myself, just read the webside.

Is it easily possilbe to download a dcf file (or what ever the name is) from a size2 and upload it to a size4?

Take care Sin-Cos encoder is a special option you need to order this!

You will also find the manual (Sevcon) in the NET but it is a bit outdated!
