CA ZEV and rebate statistics
« on: October 26, 2013, 12:35:12 AM »

According to an article in today's newspaper, there are about 50,000 zero-emission vehicles roaming the roads of California, most of which are battery-powered cars.  To date, more than 37,000 EV rebates have been dispersed by the CA Rebaters.  Nearly 5,400 rebates have been issued in Santa Clara County, the heart of Silicon Valley.  Interestingly, $36 million still remains in the state's clean-vehicle rebate fund. The greatest number of rebates were handed out last month, 2,007.  By 2025, California hopes to have 1.5 million ZEVs on the state's highways, according to an announcement made yesterday.  Other than handing out rebates, I didn't hear how the state plans to accomplish that task if the public doesn't purchase the vehicles.    ::)

No mention was made of how many electric motorcycles have been sold in the state.

The Progressive Motorcycle Show starts today and I plan to attend tomorrow.  Unfortunately, it does not appear that either Brammo or Zero will have exhibits at the show, even though Zero is located only about 60 miles from the San Mateo County Event Center.  :(  However, they will be at the big motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, where their 2014 models will be introduced on November 5.  I believe I read on the Brammo Fan forum that Brammo will not be at that show this year.   ???

One way that was mentioned was to encourage state agencies to incorporate ZEV's into their vehicular fleets.

No doubt they would be happy to do that - if someone gave them the money in the form of a grant.   ::)
