LAPD testing electric motorcycles
« on: October 05, 2013, 08:23:16 PM »

The LAPD are trying out both the Brammo Empulse and the Zero police model for future use as authority motorcycles, according to this article by the Huffington Post.  No price was given for the Zero, but it seems like the price of the Empulse for police use has increased (compared to the civilian version) to a point where it is only $3K less than a new $28,300 police model Harley.   :o

I hope to see more of this sort of thing. Making these bikes hold up under the rigors of police use can't help but benefit civilian customers.

One thing I like about my Zero is that I peg the throttle at every opportunity and don't worry about it as I did on my gas bikes. I figure the controller will keep me from overworking the motor.
