Trade my modified 2011DS for a S 2012 for 4500$
« on: June 28, 2013, 04:47:45 AM »

Would you jump on that proposition?

My actual Zero Ds 2011 look like this one below

and have for 1800$ of modifications in parts.

The guy is offering a S 2012 for 6900$ +TX so he is offering me like 2986.11$ for mine... Ishh ???

The ZF9 at 6900$ is very atrractive and i would double the range but i would need to buy another 2013 trim kit like i installed on my 2011 to get it a better look...

OR i could go with the option of keeping my DS 2011 but installing another battery(i have it)  on it and buy the 2013 powertrain kit to have fun.

This would give me about the same range of the ZF8.6 and same torque as the S 2013.

What wold you do?

A counteroffer to the S 2012 ?

Doc,

One thing I have noticed is you are very into tackling projects on these bikes.  It seems to me you will get more out of completing your current build.  I totally get the draw of the offer though.

Really hard to decide.

I like the look of your bike and personally I prefer the DS suspension. On the other side the 2012 will be a good basis to start mods too.
If you go for Harlans size 6 the bike will be pretty performant too. If you plan to have a 2013 motor it will be harder to get the voltage higher (maybe not for you, I saw what you have already done). The Voltage 74.7V to charge is not so easy because most standard charger like you used will have 12, 24, 36 , 48 and the 36 are not so common which could maybe used in series.

Lots of things to decider, curious to see how you will decide!

Id like to see which clever mods you come up with for our 2012 bikes Doc so would say to go with that!

Definitely haggle on the price though.

Hi guys,

I finally choosed the S2012 ZF9 !

I am really happy with.

I might go with two different mods on it (performance mod as well):

sevcon size 6... or upgrade the battery voltage to the same as for the 2013.

Teh zf9 is 120Ah so i would need to get 10s battery ( 37V nominal) and 120Ah to connect in serie with some high current diode protections in parallel

this would add 4kWh and convert it to an equivalent  ZF13.5

I think that accordsing to teh controller model and battery voltage of the 2012 they can take up to 116V just like the 2013 are so reprogramming it for 113v woudl be great!

i woudl get more power due to higher voltage.

Or go with the sevcon size 6 and keep the battery as is...

or make two mods together 8)

for sure i'll install the 2013 gas tank and seat just like i did for my DS2011.

Tomorrow i'll try to comminucate with the MBB just lke i did for mu ds 2011 and see if the setting can be tweaked...

Congratulations for your decision!

I liked the look of your 2011, but I guess your 2012 Mod will become even better ;D

I don't know if the DC/DC, the MBB ... will easy work with 113V ( certainly it can be fixed some how  ;))
I have don't some thinking in this way too. I think you can shift the "field weakening" from 3400rpm to 4500-5000 this would have a really nice effect  8) or did you consider to use the 2013 motor too.

I think you should communicate to the Sevcon, because all important setting are done there, or what do you want to tweak?
