2013 S/DS specs comparison
« on: May 11, 2013, 05:36:11 AM »

I've performed a text extract from the specs section of the official PDF manual publicly posted by Zero, and lined up the text files so that one can compare them with any old document editor. I'm a software developer so I use color-coded comparison tools, but didn't find an online tool that seemed worth using for presentation.

If anyone screams "Copyright infringement" at me, I'll assert a fair use defense but will cooperate with the forum owners at their discretion.

I have no direct knowledge of this, and Zero hasn't published a figure. I'm just extracting the information in the tables in the PDF owners manuals and lining up the values for easy-ish comparison.

Someone has posted a list of all 2013s 0-60, but I can't remember who :-[

A Search didn't bring up data, maybe he will post it again or link it.

The DS specs have an amazing difference in batteries.
"Curb Weight
* ZF8.5 392 lbs (178 kg)
* ZF11.4 360 lbs (164 kg)"
With the ZF11.4 you get 2.9 kw more capacity -and- save 14 lbs of weight.
Kinda makes the ZF11.4 an easy choice!    :-)

That should be listed as carrying capacity not curb weight.

DS ZF8.5 curb weight: 363 pounds
DS ZF8.5 carrying capacity: 392 pounds (755 pounds gross)

DS ZF11.4 curb weight: 395 pounds
DS ZF11.4 carrying capacity: 360 pounds (755 pounds gross)

As there is a lot of excitement about acceleration. Here are the Zero 2013 numbers...

S:   5.3 seg
XU:   5.5 seg
FX:   3.9 seg
MX:    4.3 seg

I have ridden the FX, & S models and I can tell you they are real. You basically gain + 100% vs 2012 models. The FX as I pointed out in a different thread is a rocket...

Oops! It appears that I moved those labels around incorrectly. PDF text layout for tables is often out of order so I had to do a good amount of manual shuffling, and I thought I had gotten everything lined up. Yes, the carrying capacity is inversely related to battery capacity, alas (as a 11.4 DS owner). Since I'm looking forward to receiving the luggage racks, I'll likely have to choose between carrying a passenger and carrying groceries!

The files are fixed now.
