My DS 2010 gets 10x red flashes on warning indicator and dashboard is black. Does not run. Any ideas what it can be?

The flashes should appear in two groups.

Two sets of five flashes in the 2012 manual says "Miscellaneous error. Contact Zero or your dealer."

When you say the dashboard is black, do you mean that nothing appears on the display when you switch the key on?

Hi,
check for error codes in your bike's manual. 10 of the same flashes I do not recall. I find that a small connector at the controller tends to come loose when I work on the motor (those damn brushes). Error code is usually 3/5 or 3/4 flashes. "/" meaning a short break in between the flashes.
It is normal that the dash does not come on further as it is an error.
hope that guides u a little further.

cheers

Yes nothing happens when I turn the key on. It must be 2x 5 flashes. I emailed Zero support end of last week and they required Vehicle ID Number which they have got but no respons yet.

In the DS 2009 manual 5x red flashes says "Over-Temperature: charger shut down due to high temperature". I have right now 17 celcius and the bike has been standing since a week.

Hum. Okay, I have a copy of the 2010 S / DS manual here. Do you have a copy of the 2010 owner's manual?

There are 3 types of error indicators listed in the 2010 Zero S / DS manual

1. Warning Indicator or System Error Indicator
According to the owner's manual, this is a separate element marked WARNING affixed to the bike dash area that monitors the motor brush temperature of the motor.
 - slow blink = no cutback yet, nearing thermal limit
 - fast blink = initial cutback, close to the limit
 - rapid blinking for ten seconds = motor being disabled, then the indicator goes solid and the bike disables power to the motor

2. BMS with an audio tone - it should beep once for "OK" when the bike is turned on with the key. Do you hear any audio tone when you turn on the bike?

3. Charger fault indicator LED - just beside the yellow AC power connnected indicator, mounted on the charger body itself.

If it is the warning indicator that is blinking 10 times, then perhaps a temperature sensor in the motor has failed.
