Electric Cars 1st and 2nd in Formula Student

This article is especially interesting due to the comment from the event chairman at the end. ' "We are delighted by this progress but we will have to see what needs to be done in the future to ensure petrol cars remain competitive," said Formula Student Chairman, Jon Hilton.'   So electric cars beat them at their own game, so they will just have to change the rules so it can't happen again.   Im very tempted to contact the guy and find out how they justify that stance.

That's always the way it is in heterogeneous racing. If someone comes up with a technology or technique that's dominant for long enough, they either get neutered or boost is given to the other racers.

HI NOISEY LOL THE EV COMMUNITY REALLY NEEDS TO STOP DISSING ICE ON THE NET
ICE RUNS 340 MPH AT 1000 FT AND F1 CARS GO 67 LAPS ON PETROL WITHOUT REFUELING
THEYD GO A LOT FASTER LONGER IF THEY WERNT HELD BACK BY THE RULES OF RACING
TRY 600 MILES WITHOUT A RECHARGE IN A ELECTRIC CAMRY SEE HOW YOU GET ON
YET ALONE TOWING SOMETHING
I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT HOPE WE CAN ALL WORK TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE

I'm not dissing ICE i'm just saying that purposely restricting the development of a new technology is a terrible idea.  Whatever happened to progress? Motorsport has been stagnant aside from tiny incremental improvements for decades now.

If you only want to travel 50 miles or so, whether it be a race or a commute to work, electric is better.  I sincerely hope I never have the misfortune of having to buy an ICE again.
