The 2012 Zero S/DS do not come with a helmet lock, but here is one option for installing a Motion Pro generic helmet lock.  The lock is designed to fit on a 7/8 inch handlebar, or a similarly sized frame tube. Where I located it is the only place where the bars are anywhere near that diameter. The lock sells for under $25 and is available from many motorcycle accessory shops and catalog companies.  Installing the lock on the handlebars is the only location that I can find where it would fit.  Locking your helmet requires that you place it on the "tank" and fasten the D ring to the lock.  Not too stylish, but it is better than nothing.  The lock comes in either flat black or chrome. There are several good cable locks out there. This one is interesting because it retracts.

Also found this Kuryakyn lock in two handlebar sizes. The big one is 1 1/4" - 1/1/2".

That retractable helmet lock is what I am using now (before I installed the Motion Pro lock) and I like it.  It fits into your pocket, is easy use and the ability to retract the cable into the lock is very convenient.

interesting, so far on my Harley I never bothered to have a lock - no one would touch my helmet - on the Zero - hmm maybe put it close to chunky cables or so to show it is a serious bike

I have been using that Motion Pro lock that I installed on my handlebars during the past week and it has been working pretty well - at least as well as similar locks installed on most Japanese bikes in the past (they seem to be hard to find on new models).  While it is not as secure as a cable, as your helmet retention strap is easy for someone to cut, it does keep your helmet from falling off the bike and is easy and convenient to use.  I balance my helmet upright with the left side sitting on the locked handlebars and the right side sitting on the "tank".  Having the helmet upright keeps bird poop from falling into the passenger compartment at shopping centers.
