What to do when you are 'banned from this forum?
« on: August 19, 2012, 03:52:01 PM »

Somewhere in March or April my account was blocked or banned because every time I tried to access this forum I received the message:
Sorry kingcharles you are banned from using this forum.

I tried to contact some people via twitter and e-mail but no response from anybody. I checked for access a couple more times but no luck. Not even as a guest could I enter. I guess my IP domain was blocked also.
Today I thought to give it another try and somehow the ban has been lifted.

Can somebody please provide guidance on what to do in such circumstances. It may be useful if it occurs to me another time or perhaps to other users with the same problems.
Thanks

Welcome Kingcharles.  I am happy to hear that you are no longer in the forum's penalty box.   ;)

I have the opposite problem.  In my case, I try to visit other forums and end up here.   ;D

The problem lies with Spammers.... who use the same domain name as you do for your email. Once they're banned, it doesn't get lifted until something on the forum side is modified, or you use a different email.

I doubt my problem had to do with domain name blocking. I could also not view the forum as a guest.
So they probably block complete IP ranges?

It would be nice if they had a way to unblock valid users...

That's how my blog and some forum software I tested works....

you can block a whole range of IP addresses from problematic spammers. Unfortunately, you block real users as well. I think it's a fairly common issue.
