Brammo Empulse R launch event + price (18,995$)
« on: May 09, 2012, 11:00:28 AM »

Looks like the price was announced and Empulse R details revealed. Price is 18,995 for the R version, which is the only version shipping in 2012.

Anyone still interested at that price? A few Empulse R photos are available on the Brammo web site.

How about that? The price is one thousand dollars more that I had guessed and a lot of pre-order customers thought that I was over-estimating the price.  I feel vindicated, but I am really sorry that the Empulse R will be that expensive.  There are a lot of enthusiastic EV riders who are going to find that just too steep to afford.  This is nothing but good news for Zero sales this year, though.

I agree that this is good news for Zero.

I had placed a reservation for the Empulse (Summer 2010), but when Brammo postponed the release (initially planned for summer 2011) ... I decided to buy the Zero. I was wondering if I would regret the decision, but now that Brammo has announced another year delay (for the Empulse) and a significant price increase, and now that the specs have been released (virtually the same as the Zero ZF9), I have no regrets at all. In fact I'm very happy that I decided to go ahead and buy the Zero. I'll be riding it for another year before I see the Empulse on the roads....

Here is a nice video of the Empulse R which shows details of the bike and shows it running on the street:

And here is an interesting video interviewing Craig Bramscher in which he discusses the Empulse R and the future of his company:
