Fabio and the Zero
« on: April 04, 2012, 09:15:03 PM »

Some guy by the name of Fabio made a commercial for Plug in America and also made a video plugging (  ;) ) electric cars and motorcycles. The video is 9 minutes long, but if you want to pass by the car stuff, you can go directly to the Zero section at minute 6.

I picked this up from the Brammo Owners site, BTW.

Thanks Richard,
I found really amazing how marketing works in the US...we will never get there here in Europe...
An organization which is promoting EV (which is nice) picks up a model named Fabio -probably Italian for his name-that has no connection or experience with EV or the industry, and he turns out to be an "Advocate" of EV  :o

I worked for 12 years for a US equipment manufacturer, being my last position Product & Business Development Director for EMEA, and I was always amazed about this "native" or "natural" ability in US companies to build up a product from nothing...

I'm not criticizing the fact, but all the contrary.

In the U.S. a lot of things operate on hot air (especially our government and the advertising industry) - which results in perpetual motion that takes us nowhere.    ::)

I made the video about Fabio. A few things might make it clearer for some of you.

Fabio is a very well known (except to some here) model and actor. Most famous for his commercials, "I can't believe it's not butter." Also appeared on 400 romance novel covers, (probably not a lot of readers of those here). Numerous movies, reality shows, print adds for the Gap, etc. Been around for about 25 years. Also, a very nice, humble non-egotistical guy that is built like a rock.

He has an extensive motorcycle collection with 211 motorcycles. Knows a lot about high end cars, owner of a Maserati, 950 HP Porsche, etc. No experience with electric vehicles prior to his appearance in our public service commercial for the non-profit electric vehicle advocacy group, Plug In America.

The video is pretty explanatory about the actual events that took place that resulted in him becoming a fan of EVs and an owner of the Zero.

This is not a marketing tool for any company. I'm a member of Plug In America and an EV proponent. It was my idea to make the video and it was all paid for by me with no compensation by any body or any company and not done in conjunction with any company. I wrote, produced, directed and edited the piece without input from anybody, other than cooperation from Fabio and Alexandra Paul, who is a very lovely women and human being in all aspects.

This is just one of several videos I've made on my own about the electric vehicle experience.

Hope this clarifies a few things.

Thanks.

New pick-up line: "Hey, babe -- I ride the same bike as Fabio" :)

Seriously, though, a nice video. (I had a mad crush on Ms. Paul back in the day, and she still looks good :) ). I had no idea Fabio was such a bike enthusiast.

And I realized another reason I bought a Zero: I'd love, but can't afford, a Tesla Roadster.
