Cooling the motor on 2010 models and up

Hi all
I noticed that after most of my rides the motor cooling fan switches on when I stop at home. Guess the motor needs cooling. I am wondering if one should let the fan run for the couple of minutes until it stops automatically ? Idea is to preserve motor life. Doing so is a bit of a wait game when you rather want to get to your fridge for a coldie.... How bad would it be to switch it simply of ?

Pretty sure it only needs cooling if it is going to be running.  Turning it off when you're done riding should be fine cuz it'll cool down naturally.

i would leave it to run
the major problem with those motors is heat sink, that is that the heat cannot escape from the metal parts of the motor that have built up during riding, 2009 models had the fan on all the time but later models have them running for more finely tuned reasons. after heavy use the motor core can have lots of residual heat and some "Perm" motors had their solder melt for this reason and were later "banded" with glass fibre cord to prevent the rotors moving outwards and fouling the motor housing under hot conditions. think of it as a turbo timer as it is there for similar reasons
