Mahindra takes over the Reva EV
« on: May 28, 2010, 04:16:13 AM »

An article written by Vikas Jaja of the NY Times states that one of India's largest automakers, Mahindra & Mahindra, said Wednesday that they would acquire a controlling interest in Reva, an electric car maker in Bangalore, India. Reva Electric Car Co. makes a small two-seat electric car known in India as the Reva-I and in Britain as the G-Wiz (apparently one of Top Gear's most hated cars sold in the UK, as it is small and slow). At the same time GM will end its partnership with Reva and cease its plans to produce the Chevrolet Spark, an electric mini-car made just for the Indian market. Reva has sold about 3,500 EVs around the world to date, more than any other manufacturer. Some critics (Top Gear, maybe?) have described the car as a "glorified golf cart".
