Vmoto Stash Review
« on: September 19, 2024, 04:19:30 PM »

Seems like it could be a good competitor to the Zero FXE and other A1 class bikes competing with 125 gas bikes. The same range, only slightly down on power, faster charging, and a lot of nice tech and features (yes it has reverse, as well as cruise control) for exactly half the price of said FXE. Right in line with the cost of a few year old used 7.2 S/DS.

Looks pretty tasty. Were I about to start out biking it'd be on top of my list.

<edit> I wish manufacturers wouldn't use "boost" buttons as a gimmick. We have a control for power already, called a throttle (anachronistically).

<Tangent> I wish MCN would actually get someone with just a tiny bit of understanding of EVs to write about them. It's just really little but critical information like, for example, the actual technical specifications of the nominal/useable battery capacity and voltage, and the charging capacity, etc. that are always always missing from reviews that really pisses me off. "90 miles" range, bullshit! It's got a 7.2kWh battery (nominal?), the range will be 50 miles or so.

Cas :)

"7.2kW/h battery"
kW/h
Kilowatts. per. hour.
1000 joules per second per hour.

I am triggered. I need my emotional support motorcycle.

I write it like that too. I get what you're saying, seeing as how stuff like km/h and m/s means unit per time. I need to stop doing it, it's just in my mind it makes some sense to separate the kW and h because I read it as kilowatt hours and not kilo watthours. On the other hand I would write 7200 Wh.

That's just it; it's kilowatt hours, not kilowatts per hour. kWh means "kilowatts times hours". So think of it as "kilowatt-hours"

The irony is, if you tried to get 7.2  kw in one hour it'd probably fail because it was sampled at a 20 hr rate.

It looks good, it’s priced right, and it performs well for the segment. All it needs now is dealer support and a reputation for reliability, which remains to be seen.

It would seem that Vmoto is a UK only company. The dealer network looks pretty good, nearly 50 of them and 5 within 40 miles of me (near London) with the rest being decently spread out across the country. The warranty isn't that great though at 2 years or 12.5k miles, 3 years or 30k miles for the battery. I suppose though that unlike a gas bike if it lasts that long it's probably good.

Most 125s are absolutely fucked by the novices that ride them by then too, so it's a realistic expectation...
