How do you block members
« on: July 27, 2024, 09:27:05 PM »

How do you block certain members from showing in your post list?
Trying to block our spammers so they don't show in my new post's list but don't see anywhere any tabs / clicks, or other tools to block people.

Thanks
Aaron

I told you how when you and Don Tom did not get along.  If you view the fourn in most recent messages it won't work though. I think this phenomenon is kind of universal for these sort of fourms though some make it real easy to block a user.

I have not seen any way to get to a member and block them, whether using the most recent messages or whatever method.
I did a search on block members and nothing comes up.  Perhaps you told Don not me?

and yes, the SMF is very versatile but sometimes tools are turned off for some reason.  Id think blocking members would be one that they'd have available for everyone.

also fyi I don't block people unless they are just useless spammers such as the individual(s) we have that are getting more frequent with it.  It'd be nice if we had some actual mods though that would cull this shit.   Looking at the two listed admins for the board,  one of them posts every now and then, perhaps they can give some members here the tools to delete spam, or move spammers to a status where they can read but not post.  SMF does give the admins abilities to make groups and basically fine tune who gets to do that.

It's only a matter of time before the  find girls in your hometown turns to them posting porn on the boards,  THEN the shit gets picked up by the crawlers and this site gets blacklisted pretty much everywhere.

Well now this is weird.
I am using brave browser and signed in under a different browser profile, and now the way to the block is back.
First time I seen odd stuff on brave, generally it's been pretty stable.

For others who may be interested to know.

Clock Profile Tab on top.
Left side there is a column Modify Profile, and towards the bottom, there is a buddies and ignore list
click the ignore list and at the bottom of the window there is a box to add to ignore list and you can add the name there.

Ill post it here so that others who may wish to block the spammers can do so as well.

Aaron

Edit, unfortunately there is not a way to click their name and directly go there that I see, so you'll have to cut and paste it yourself but that should be easy to go from a post directly into your profile with it.
