How to set a new PIN ?
« on: July 29, 2024, 01:44:51 PM »

Hi,
I'm trying to set a new PIN on my eva ribelle rs, but either I'm dumb or the menu is really not helping, but I can't figure out how to do it.
When pressing the RESET option in the settings menu, nothing happens.
The manual does not state anything special, only to use the menu.

Thanks!

Read the instruction manual, it's a bit of a procedure, and you'll need your orange master key as well I believe.

You do not need the orange key to set the pin. It is only used to teach the bike new passive and active keys.

When you select the PIN reset option it should bring up the PIN entry screen where you can set a new code. You can not access the screen if you turned the bike on via the existing PIN.
If you turned the bike on via the old PIN turn the bike off and on again with the keyless fob. Also make sure the fob is in range of the bike when accessing the PIN reset.

well the thing is, pushing the mode button on the RESET option does nothing.

either with the active fob in range, the passive green key right on the detector, or with nothing in range.

everything else in the settings menu works well, the default pin does unlock the bike.

but the RESET menu entry simply does not do anything. I tried a long press, a dozen presses, navigating back and forth...

I have the same issue and therefore I know the problem. I suspect it's because the wrong PIN has been entered too often. Then everything has to be replaced according to the manual... it's not worth it to me. Would be happy and grateful to hear an other solution.

ok so I managed to change the pin.
I'll have to do a complete step by step validation but the main thing was to start the bike with the pin and without any key in range.
Then the keyless->pin-reset menu behaved differently, the press on reset actually went back to the riding screen instead of doing nothing. Going back to this menu showed the reset option stuck on "blue highlight" state.
Then I shut the bike down, brought the active key in range, restarted the bike, went back to the pin reset option and this time on the button press, it showed the pin edit screen (not different from the pin input I think)
I then of course tested the old and new pins and got the expected result.

I will confirm the process tomorrow but I'm really relieved to know that my bike can't be started by the first curious teenager roaming around anymore.
