Tail Bag for EVA RIBELLE ??
« on: May 29, 2024, 07:33:11 AM »

Hello good folk, would you happen to know any good tail bag that would fit my EVA? It's the most useful thing you can have on your bike just don't know which one to buy.
Thank ya

Hi there,

Honestly I have not found anything that is allowing unhindered access to the charge plugs AND is esthetically pleasing  8)
I am planning to go for a local leather/upholstery shop an have something tailor made in the shape of a Held Tenda. The Tenda is a bit too long and too big for the Ribelle's seat.

Currently I am 'misusing' a leg bag as tail bag. That is a provisorical solution but lasting 1.5 years now  ::)

A few weeks ago, I made a two-day trip and had a Kriega US-5 strapped to the seat with my AC-brick inside (for slow charging overnight). It's the smallest bag Kriega produces and is fixed with straps. The Kriega stuff is expensive but worth every penny. There are several sizes available and you can combine them in many ways to fit your needs. But it's not for quick access.

I would be glad as well if anyone can point out something better!

When I had my Ribelle I used it primarily for commuting and never found a tail bag solution I was happy with. I ended up getting a custom rack made so I could mount a Givi WL901 (I think that’s the model number) rigid soft top case. I posted pics in another thread a few years ago if you’re interested. The top case solution worked great while I had my bike. Combined with the OEM soft cases I even did a couple of solo overnight rides.

Here’s the link to the topic I created with the Dropbox links to the pictures of my rack and top case: https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=12047.msg113516

I just bungie a sports bag or similar to the rear end, prop it up with shoes or something jammed between it and the sidebags, and accept that shifting things to lift the seat and adjusting the load after charging is a bit of a nuisance.

I just got the Kriega bags.  Bit of a hassle but you can strap them in, tie them on, harness them up to about anywhere you need to.
Getting on the  bike, I kind of swing my leg over the back of the seat to get on, so a big bag / case there would be an additional hinderance towards convenience, and I don't really see a way around that.  YES it would be really nice if the Eva had a rack like the Experia does so you can hard case it, that bike would be totally tits awesome for making deliveries !! but sadly, unless you goto a welding shop, and get a custom one done, which honestly is NOT that expensive, a hundred bucks or so maybe?.. there is nothing readily available.

Check local welding shops, the older established ones tend to have very talented people who can make racks for just about anything, out of anything, so they can do aluminum, stainless, whatever you want and probably not that expensive either.

I've got a huge bag from rhinowalk on mine, and the shifting is definitely annoying and you just gotta accept it is definitely true. I can unclip the bag though so at least it's pretty easy to do that.

Hi FlyMig,

depends on your use case: do you want to use the tail bag instead of a tank bag, replace the soft cases, use for daily commute, for day or weekend trip, or just for the stuff you want to carry always with you?

I have a small Touratech tail rack bag on my Ribelle, fits with its slightly tapered shape quite well as tail bag on the passenger seat, has about 4 liter volume, can be extended to 8 liter.
I use it for a brake disc lock, tools to adjust the suspension, small can of chain lube, microfibre cloth, water bottle for the afternoon ride.
When extended big enough for a (short) Type2-charging cable or rain gear.

See https://www.touratech.com/tail-rack-bag-ambato-for-luggage-racks.html

Bit tricky to make sure it's not sliding of the tapered seat when using just a single strap. I used some hooks under the seat to run the strap through, with that the force is applied orthogonally to the sides of the seat and the hooks will hold the bag at its place. It's stable on autobahn speed and full acceleration.

Greetings from Munich,
Jens

Thank you Jens and the rest of you guys! That's pretty much what I was looking for, low volume tail bag to carry water, maybe energy drink or a light snack.
