Specs per year ?
« on: June 13, 2024, 06:37:39 PM »

Hi, I'm seeing more and more used energicas around here, but I'm always not sure what I get depending on the year, for example there is a very interesting eva ribelle rs from 2021 (according to the seller). He says it is 260kg but I thought the 21kwh bikes were a bit lighter than that.

Is there an extensive list of models, years, and corresponding specs somewhere ? thanks !

Hello TNC.
There is not a list that I am aware of, perhaps one of their reps who also frequent the forum can point you to something.

That weight, umm yah that's about right for what the bike weighs.  When they said they were able to take weight off it, it wasn't anything major, maybe 10kg or so here and there.  FWIW once you get the bike going, probably 8 to 10 km/h you really don't feel that weight too much, it handles very nicely.  Slower though and yes, you have to be careful with it.

I would not worry too much about a 21 energica, I believe there is still plenty of warranty on the battery, I think they took the warranty out to 5 years, however, from what we have seen, there have been very little problems with their batteries, so I am sure it'll last a bit longer than the 5 years.

The major changes on the 21.5kWh bikes are the EMCE motor and inverter. That dropped ~9kg, increased power, and also drastically reduced the maintenance schedule. I'd need to see a picture of the bike to be able to determine if it's the Cascadia motor/inverter or the in-house EMCE one.

Didn't the RS versions of the Ribelle and SS9+ only come after the switch to the EMCE motor? So, as soon as it's an RS, it must have the motor and inverter related benefits.

Nah the RS models came with the 21.5 packs and could have had the previous gen motor and inverter. I'm fairly certain, but not 100%.

You are correct. Found a picture online which shows a Ribelle RS with the pre EMCE motor.

They didn't increase the battery warranty unless you paid an additional $1000 USD.  And the only way to do that was to contact your local Energica dealer by the end of May.  For brand new bikes there also seems to be a $1k upcharge for an extended battery warranty.

Exactly! But this prolongation (2 years or up to 75,000 km) was only applicable if you met a bunch of preconditions (e.g. bike not older than 2 years and less than 6,000 km on the clock).
My dealer was misinformed by Energica about these and so I drove 300 km for a battery check but did not get the prolongation in the end. Very frustrating!

This is prohibitive in the truest sense of the word and very frustrating. It is hardly more than an expensively paid warranty extension for new motorcycles. One should think that when they have the dealers do an extensive battery check and assess the results in Modena, there is no reason to set such high additional hurdles. And I can't shake off the impression that 6000km in two years reflects little conviction in the quality of their own products.

These were my thoughts as well!

As far as I know, when a bike is serviced at an authorized dealership, the bike's logs are uploaded to an Energica database. Though this is not a real battery check, the collected data should put them in a position where they have a quite good understanding of the performance of the batteries.
