So I think they updated my bike
« on: December 01, 2023, 03:48:33 AM »

I got my bike back today from the shop. I believe they updated the software on it.  My miles travelled equalled my trip odometer, so something was played with.

I dunno, I havent ridden a  bike in a month so that may be a good part of it but the bike don't feel as zippy as it used to be.  Maybe i just need to get used to riding again and give it a good romp once i get my 'bike legs' back.

What all was tweaked with in this latest firmware?  Did you do anything to speed mapping or battery management?  I got a new front tire, but I can't see that making the bike feel sluggy or this different in handling.

Just curious

Latest firmware is version .43 which had a number of Experia quality-of-life improvements and also full Tesla Supercharger compatibility if and when Magic Dock Superchargers are available in your area.

I see they also did some stuff with Level 2charging as well, it asks you to confirm removing the plug now when you interrupt it.  I came into the garage this morning to find my bike balancing after an overnight charge, something it never did before, or at least I didn't catch it.   Thing is should have been done charging hours earlier so I am wondering if it's a trickle down and rebalance, topping off balance happening?  Which may not be optimal for LIons.

Got it on the road and was  able to romp on it a bit, and she's behaving much better now.  I see the range estimator has been tweaked, or maybe it's just because they reset it all that it's acting a bit different now that every thing is 'new' again. to it.  The only thing that would make the Ribelle perfect now is if they offered an option to open it's top end up to match the EGO.  Id even pay extra for that.

I just saw the "unplug the charger" message for the first time today. There's also a warning if you have the rear brake activated for too long. I feel like that one is a bit too sensitive but I have seen what happens if you ride with the rear brake engaged for any amount of time. The motor easily overcomes the stopping force and you can't even tell you have the brakes on. Also the Experia has to be keyed "on" for the back button to open the Fr'ank. Before it would open any time the dash was active, like when it was charging. It also makes Autocharge+ from EVgo work. So you can just roll up and plug in. No phone apps, no RFID Cards. And Clean mode is better if that's your jam.

Aaron, I also have a Ribelle RS. Please post if you see any issues that may be related to the new firmware. I took one for the team here with jumping on the firmware that caused the "Key not in Range" problem and will not do that again.

I agree the Ribelle RS needs more top end on it.

I got my bike back today from the shop. I believe they updated the software on it.  My miles travelled equaled my trip odometer, so something was played with.

This trip reset is a product of the firmware being updated.

There were no changes to the power delivery. For the EVA the update mainly focused on improvements to DC charge compatibility.
Is the front tire you installed the same as the one that was on the bike? Different tires have different profiles, a more circular profile front tire would make the bike feel slower in transition vs the stock "egg" shaped Pirelli.
Also please check your tire pressures. Running lower than suggestion values will cause the carcass of the tire to compress, changing it's shape and how the bike turns.

There's also a warning if you have the rear brake activated for too long. I feel like that one is a bit too sensitive but I have seen what happens if you ride with the rear brake engaged for any amount of time. The motor easily overcomes the stopping force and you can't even tell you have the brakes on.

This function was added to FW43 to alert owners that may be inadvertently resting their foot on the rear brake lever. It will pop up when there is rear brake input over a certain distance of travel.  Like you mentioned Energica have more than enough torque to overcome this input, where an ICE bike would likely stall with the rear brake partially engaged. I try to educate owners on proper brake lever adjustment and foot position when I see a discolored rear rotor. Unfortunately I have also replaced a fair number or rear calipers that got hot enough to cause the piston seals to melt.

That's one thing i had to get used to again is my rear brake lever being ALL there again.  They should sell a stubby version of it, :)  it is kind of in the way, especially with big lunky track boots on.  I always wiggle my feet front to back to make sure im not dragging anything now anytime I transition from a stop to moving and lift my feet up.  I will probably adjust its position abit this weekend if I get the time.

And that is why it's adjustable! Just make sure you have 2mm of free play after making any adjustments. The owners manual covers the process.
The toe piece is held onto the brake lever with a M6 bolt. It is possible to find a replacement in the aftermarket. Based on the hardware used it looks like the Woodcraft ones will bolt up:
