High Speed / High Temperature
« on: August 14, 2023, 11:37:58 AM »

So, I had a dream that I was on my bike, the temp on the asphalt was like 107 Degrees showing on the bikes thermometer, which felt pretty accurate.  I was hunched down and had the bike wide open throttle for close to 5 miles.  Hot as shit out, but the hot wind coming off the asphalt at those speeds felt somehow comforting and exhilarating! in the otherwise oven feeling conditions in Florida.

Can this harm the bike, doing a sustained run that hard?  At the end, did a few miles to pull into the driveway and the chain was warm, the motor, the back end was almost too hot to touch, the battery... warm, like really not heated up at all unlike the motor.  The tranny, warm to maybe very warm.

I woke up wondering, running the bike this hard, just full open, when it is this hot, for miles....can it harm it any?
Asking for a friend.

The motor and inverter are liquid cooled. If they sense they're too hot they will go into thermal cutback. There are so many safety features built into these bikes. Go have fun.

Cool!  Thanks Morgan, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be hurting things long term.  Just because you can do something does not mean it's always good TO do it.  ICE vehicles, yah they'll WOT but you tear things up when you do for extended time.

It's crazy how even at those speeds, the HEAT is still radiating off the pavement and baking you, good lord it's fkn hot in Florida this summer!  On a bridge crossing shallow water is a real bitch, then you get all the humidity too, it's like a motorcycle waterboarding.  Interestingly enough, I didn't burn down the battery nearly as bad as I figured that romp would, so VERY pleased there!  At one point I think i seen 36KW being used to push the bike semi steady state.  This leads me to think, if it wasn't for the software cap, this sweetie would scream at stupid speeds!...  Then I woke up :)  I get it, the EGO is their flagship model but I really wish Energica would sell an aftermarket 'tweak' or something that lets you open the bike up more, even if just to the EGO cap!
