Why would anyone want a Ninja 400 with only 15hp?

It will probably (hopefully) be a continuous output of 15hp, similar to Zero's 11kW models, to fit with the Euro A1 license. I would imagine peak output would be something more like 30-45hp. I have no proof for that but it would be the most logical.

Kawasaki's first two full-size electric motorcycles are getting close to being marketed in Australia. But don't expect them to worry Zero, LiveWire, or Energica too much. And if you like the looks of the 400 Ninja, you will like the looks of these models. The fact the Aussie models have an even lower specified power output doesn't bode well for my theory. I have to wonder why though, I know LAMS bikes have a power to weight ratio limit but it's absolutely nowhere near close to that and I've never heard of them having anything similar to the European A1 class (15hp limit). That battery capacity is also disappointing so hopefully it's priced accordingly, it's gonna need to be very close to their 125 models to be competitive.

Do you think those kw/hp numbers are peak or continious?

Are the battery packs proprietary or involved with an upcoming standard?

The same story is out there with different internet addresses and author names.  I found at least one sentence with a comma in the middle exactly the same.

Well I was hoping it was a continuous output using the same loophole that Zero uses and that peak output would be much higher, but then I don't know why they'd need to de-rate it even further for the Australian market. Unless the peak output of the Euro models would put it over the LAMs limit, but that would probably have to be something like 60hp which is asking a lot from such a small motor and battery. It could still be the continuous output, but without using the loophole the peak would only be something like 20hp.

As for the battery it's difficult to tell, but at least going by the casing visible on the Z model it doesn't look to be the same as the "universal standard" that some of the other Japanese manufacturers are planning to use.
