2013 BMS dead
« on: September 02, 2020, 01:38:25 PM »

Hi guys
I have a problem with zero s 2013, one day the bike became dead - zero state of charge on dash(but the battery is about 115v), error 2-3 blinking ( bms problem), the contactor does not closes( no "click" sound, no voltage on controller). i've tryed to charge it, but still nothing, the bike swithes on, zero SoC on dashboard and 2-4 error (can error), no bms lights, no reaction for reset button.
so i checked all connections, everything is ok, i've opened front battery cover to make visual check of bms, everything seems to be ok, nothing seems to be burned on the plate, both connectors are ok.
I wrote a letter to zero tech support, sent them bike log (actually only the mbb log, there were no connection to bms), but they said to bring bike to deaeler, but the main problem is, that nearest dealer is pretty far away (the bike is in Belarus) and it is almost impossible to do this. So maybe some of you had some advice what to do, maybe some ideas.
Thanks, and sorry for my english((
p.s. here is the bms log

Erf, Zero keeps the programming of the BMS close to the vest.

That's gonna be tough.  The tools to fix it just don't really exist in the field.

so it is a program error, like firmware update or reprogramming, or there could be some burned/broken smd chips like processor or something? no ideas? nobody took an experiment on broken bms?

There's probably a burned chip, but the new chips would have to be reprogrammed for your bike arrangement.

2013 bikes are a pain to work on even at the dealer. They have a lot more limited diagnostic capability.

Maybe Zero would agree to send you preprogrammed parts but a dealer really would be the best

as i understand, the bms (or even whole battery) was replaced, the number on a sticker is 2014_bms_03920d_06872, the bms part number is 41-06419 rev 8, but the bike is 2013my.
still dont think there is oportunity to send it to Germany or anywhere else, it is about 2000km, it would be a problem and a big sum of money, not sure, that the bike Will cost that money.
Just thinking, maybe there is external problem, something like lost "wakeup" signal from mbb.
or the bms is a common problem on that bikes? there are a lot of topics about different problem of zero motorcycles, but as i know, they did many changes every year, so 2013 model is pretty different from 2014 and 2015.

If the BMS isn't showing lights, it can't be 'woken' up.

but on 2015 model bms Led Light is blinking for about 40 minutes after switching ignition off, then no blinking till you switch ignition on again... but i checked it on 2015 model, not 2013. is there is difference between these models? what about your personal bikes?

I have a 2014 and it's always blinking.

Or at least was on its first mbb... anyhow, you'd need an external charger to test the battery, and if the bms is bad, you need one specifically programmed for your battery pack.

Hi Chimirges,  2013 and later BMS ... are not simple.  We have 1 in stock. May be able to ID a used 1 too, pulled from a 2013 battery.   If we can find a JTAG we can double-check the programming and ship to Belarus.  There is a possible recovery but not something I'm going to share here.  You can PM me.
