that heartbeat while charging
« on: March 31, 2023, 09:40:08 PM »

Hello everyone:

When charging the Eva Ribelle, that energica symbol on the 'tank' flashes, im assuming letting you know the charge level or something.  Is there any way to turn that off.

I seen in the settings that you can turn off the heartbeat when the bike starts up, I believe it is, but how about when charging.  That thing gets really hot and Im imagining it's burning some watts I don't need to be.

That's the right setting to turn it off. I can't imagine the LEDs in that part make it that hot, I would think it would be some part of the charging system just below it. I messed with it a bit and I like it on level 1.

Yep, definitely in the menu settings. I turned mine off as well. Since I keep a tank bag on the bike and knowing how hot it gets while AC charging, I turned it off to keep from trapping that heat under the tank bag.

During the summer months, charging in a garage with no A/C or air flow, that heartbeat gets stupid hot. Turned mine off on day 2 of owning it.

That's what I am seeing @Ashveratu, it's getting like burn your hand hot.
Im thinking maybe that's an oversight or something IDK, but having something get THAT hot during a charge, maybe there needs to be an improved airflow somewhere or something, it' can't be good for longevity and plastics will get hard and brittle after a while of that kind of environment.

With that being said, putting extra heat in there, even if it's only 7 or 8 watts from the light, if it's being trapped that much, over time, that adds up too, so why not do anything one can to reduce it.

The engineer part of me wants to open things up and see if I can tweak or make better, the common sense part of me says dude, you only had the thing a few months, don't be tearing it up already, you get a warranty claim and you tore into it?  NO !! NONO!!

@Specter, You might be on to something. A simple heatsink in the right place and low speed fan to just move some air might do the trick.

Isn't the inverter right under that LED?

Can't imagine running that LED emits a lot of heat.
