Ribelle stops updating SoC
« on: March 24, 2023, 05:39:25 PM »

I had this problem once before and it magically went away after half an hour but now it's come back. The SoC readout on the dash doesn't update (at least downward, it ticked up a percent from regen), the power draw figures are all zero, the last 10 miles readout is a flat zero, the range estimate just goes to the moon.

When it happened before I'd just charged it and it fixed itself before I got home but in this case it started at 15% so I don't really have the luxury of riding around a bunch to see if it fixes itself, I have maybe 10-12% in the battery and I dunno if it's a dash problem (safe to charge) or a BMS problem (not safe to charge). Turning it off and on again didn't update the SoC.

Anyone else encountered this?

Thanks, I mentioned it to Energica UK when it happened before, I'll tell them it happened again I guess and just assume I'm starting from 90% next time I take it out.

Did you try resetting the VCU as mentioned in this post?

Last paragraph "SOC Error".

I didn't as I don't think it's necessary unless the problem persists. I did plug it in this morning so I can do some errands later in the afternoon and it jumped right to 9% so maybe it's sorted itself out.

Happened to me once as well. Switched on and off and issue was gone. Apparently SOC during driving is calculated, not measured. SOC is updated when switching on the bike.

It's now fixed itself.
