I had been wondering for a while if the SDS Parking Brake would fit on the FST bikes, but couldn't see if anyone had tried to fit one.
Comparing images of the rear brake carrier on both platforms, it appeared that the mounting points were similar, so I decided to take a chance to see if it could be installed on my SR/S, and it definitely fits 100%.
The kit fitted directly without any initial modification, however, there was insufficient clearance between the front brake lever mount and the handlebar, to allow the parking brake lever to fit as closely to it as I would have liked. To remedy this, I filed a small relief into the parking brake lever clamp, allowing it to fit closer and making for a much more professional looking installation.
The only other thing required was a P Clip mounted on the motor, to prevent the parking brake cable contacting the swingarm pivot. From there, I routed the cable behind the rear brake master cylinder, along the trellis frame, and up to the handlebars. On the SR/S the trellis is mostly covered by the fairing so the cable doesn't show, but I'm not sure how this would look on the SR/F, New SR, or DSR/X.
For anyone looking to add a parking brake to an FST bike, the Zero SDS kit is now confirmed as an option.
