Could it be that they ran out of centerstands for the LE, since they are on backorder?
I don‘t think so. Running out of means they had some. And I assume they nether had any as my dealer was telling me already in Novemer when Energica drilled up the configurator that the parts I immediately added to my order (ctr.stand, hand guards, GPS bracket) were not available. Maybe they had a few prototypes. He has direct connection to the plant, so I have no reason to believe otherwise.
….. but that sure is flakey if they are not already installed.
Could not agree more
- but I think I was wrong in my post above and they were indeed included in the LE. I was just checking my order and it does not mention the grips but I do have them. However, no longer standard. THAT‘s indeed flakey for a tourer!
I do find it a major inconvenience to not have a centerstand.
Same here - that‘s why I asked him if it was included in the LE once I realized it in some pics around summer last year.
What is the big difference between the LE and buying the bike later when the LE is sold out (as it is)?
There is no big difference apart accessories. You can still configure a bike that is 100% identical to the LE:
Page VERSION
- Model - ExPee 22.5kWh; 28.263EUR
- Fairing color - Bormio Ice; +0EUR
- Packs - no extra pack
Page OPTIONAL
- Suspension - ZF Sachs Front & rear; +0EUR
- Special Parts - no special parts
- Wheels - Cast Alu with red details; +375EUR
- Electronic components - heated grips; +274EUR
- Socket - CCS Inlet; +0EUR
Page ACCESSORIES
- no windscreen, no accessories
- Screws - Bar ends & ergal bolts; +321EUR
- Cases - top&side case kit with rack; +1,510EUR
Total 28,263+375+274+321+1,510=30,743EUR
Price LE: 30,451EUR, so 292EUR delta. I had to compare Euros as I nether checked Dollars and paid in Euros.
My guess is Energica wanted to have experience in setting up the assembly of serial bikes. So they kept it simple and started with one version with accessories that most customers would want (well, I do not see the point of black ergal bolts - but that’s just me). They are building now probably dozens, if not 100+ identical bikes to get a stable process in production and logistics flow.
