Individual cell replacement…
« on: September 07, 2022, 06:57:09 AM »

Is it possible to combine healthy cells from multiple bad batteries to get a single good battery? Batteries are from a 2013 fx. Has anybody done this?

Thanks!

Cells need to be within a certain voltage range of one another to work.

That being said Zero cells are potted in epoxy and can't be individually replaced or reused.

One of the things that makes those batteries difficult to recycle... but I have to think that extracting lithium from spend batteries HAS to be easier than extracting it from ore, right?  If nothing else, the lithium in the spent battery is a LOT more pure.  Right now I think that is the biggest hurdle to making EVs "green."

Well "the batteries can be ground into an artificial "ore" with high concentration of all the good stuff" was Tesla's excuse for glueing their battery cells.
Wether that is an efficient way of recycling or just an excuse I don't know.
