Brand New Zero S - Red Flashing Triangle - EDIT FIXED
« on: July 30, 2022, 05:37:02 PM »

Hi All,

I just bought a 2022 Zero S and rode it home. Has about 150km on the odo. I plugged it in last night and now when I start it or charge it the Red Triangle icon on the bottom right flashes slowly. No pattern but a slow flash, when I kick up the kickstand and turn the bike on the triangle flashes very fast and the green circle icon in the top left flickers. I have no throttle when this happens. When I turn the key I do hear a click in the top right of the tank.

Any help would go a long way thank you.

UPDATE: - Bike was towed to the dealer and they reinstalled all the firmware, they had it up and running in a little over an hour.

On my Zero S when i turn on the key, I hear a loud click, the red triangle is lit and slowly flashes and the yellow ABS warning light is on and steady. Then when I retract the side stand the red triangle goes out, the green circle comes on steady and the yellow ABS light remains on until I ride off and reach a speed of about 5 mph then it goes out. Once the side stand is up and the green circle is on the throttle reacts normally.

Be sure to verify that your red "kill switch" is in the "run" position.

Everything is the same for me except that when I kick up the kickstand the red triangle flashes faster and the green circle flashes. The triangle also flashes if the bike is off but charging.

Attached is a video to help explain it better.

The video is not working for me. But I am not sure what to make of a flashing triangle when charging. If you don't get an answer later, perhaps you should contact Zero on Monday and ask them what is going on. Or if you bought the bike from a dealer, give them a call.

Try this: repeat what you're doing in the video, except at the end roll the bike forward like a full wheel rotation. This is what's known as the "roll forward trick." I did not make this up. It might go into run mode. Or it might do nothing!

I could be misinterpreting that but it sounds like the bike is mad at the DC-DC converter. If it was me I'd check the connections on it and make sure there's no moisture/corrosion.

When my DC-DC converter died my bike would still run like normal, I even got a normal dash display and the bike charged normally. What I didn't have was any unhappy warning light or any other chassis lights or working horn.  ???

Could be but I would think the dash wouldn't function if it isn't getting good 12V input.
Might be Sevcon Controller since both units are from Sevcon and the code doesn't mention which one.

Yeah I tried pulling the fuse on the Dc to DC and still the same iasue it turns off the dash.

Even in the app, when I connect it can't tell what kinda of bike I have says unknown model.

Tried to see if I could uodate it with firmware but when I?check for updates it says download is corupt. Try again.

Well my best advise is just take it back to the dealer.  It sucks but it's brand new and you don't want to mess something up and risk voiding your warranty.
Could be bad firmware or a bad Main Bike Board MBB or lose connection anywhere really.
They aren't perfect bikes but the few issues I've had with my two were pretty far between and fixed when they left the shop.

Yeah, It's a bummer, thank goodness I have CAA so they can tow it up for me. The nearest Dealer is 137km away. It was a fun road trip riding it back!

It was also interesting to see how good its range is when using non-highway speed roads Had 67km on the dash, I rode it 51km and had like 28 km left.

Do a MBB reset, maybe will come back to life.

Good luck.

I pulled the 2 big connectors and waited a minute and plugged them back in, no improvement sadly.
