7.2 to 14.4 FXS
« on: September 07, 2022, 08:29:59 AM »

What all is involved to convert a FXS 7.2 to a 14.4 or is it even possible?

Where exactly did you plan to put the other half of the battery?

I think that was what he was asking!

For what purpose? Adding 100# (2 additional packs) to that chassis would defeat the fact that it’s a light, flickable machine. Everyone is after more range but I don’t think the bike is comfortable enough that you would want to ride it that far.

Must be why no one has every purchased a DSR

Yeah, I too would want to keep such a bike as light as possible.

I wouldn't trade my Zero DS 7.2 KWH battery for a 14.4 KWH for free. In fact, they couldn't pay me to put a 14.4 in it. Many reasons, but weight would be the main reason. But I have my SR with pwr tank for the longer trips.

I don't know if it is chassis geometry, suspension (primarily front suspension) or the weight but my SR feels totally different compared to FXS.   And both are on the same 17" wheels.   I think the rear suspension is basically the same on both.   I've actually added the FXS (DS) handlebars on my SR, so not real difference there either.

I don't recall seeing any published geometry on Zero's bikes anywhere to see how much difference there is between them.

It would be interesting to ride an S 7.2 and an FXS 7.2 back to back since they are close to the same weight.   I also wonder how a DS 7.2 with 17" wheels would feel.   Kind of supermoto-ish S.
