Hi everyone

New to the forums and trying to decide what to do here. I bought a 2022 DS with 5 miles on it as a daily commuter and loved every second of it until…

Saturday May 29 2022 (approx 18 days of ownership) and roughly 600 miles of driving (I enjoy the bike very much as you can tell) I had a service appointment to check things after the first 500 miles as I’m used to With ICE bikes just to be cautious. Drive belt checked and tightened, tires and brake fluid all good … and a new firmware update.

Drive it home , park it, wake up Sunday and drive to meet friends at the movies, park it again (at this point roughly 20-25 miles driven after firmware update), movie ends and I hop on the bike.

Lights turn on , instrument panel lights up, I push out, and crank the throttle … nothing … check the kick stand all good, still nothing  … at this point I’m just thinking I’ve done something dumb and am not thinking straight so I push back into the parking space and get off to look around. Everything looks fine until I really look at the instrument panel (wasn’t my first thought as it just went in for service and was fine).

CEL is on and the Exclamation is flashing, the battery reads zero. Read the manual over the last week so check the error expecting it to be simple cable displacement or something and possible key issue.

7 ERROR CODES FLASH ACROSS THE SCREEN!!!

 This is the list of CEL codes : 06, 25, 30, 40, 45, 48, 49

Have the thing towed to the dealer and they are baffled and in need of Zero expert support.

WTH have I gotten into here? Any others with an experience like this? I’m a tried and true ICE rider and have been for years but after test rides galore I just fell in love and have completely mentally just made the switch to this being IT for me moving forward. well at least that was the plan

One very frustrated owner of a 12k dollar bike. I’m not one to complain about cost as I’ve had some big bike buys in the past but this was supposed to be my daily commuter and I cannot be more disappointed so far

Ultimately we all gotten into this world where we have limited debugging and repairing power on our motorcycles, cars, and lots of other day to day products. ICE is, in general, an easy formula: gas + air + compression + spark = go go go. An EV's equation is something like: battery + battery algorithm + controller algorithm + motor = go go go. The algorithms are where we've lost our abilities, or have been locked out of them and just have to trust. Yes it sucks when things break down, but the other 99%+ of the time is worth it to me.

We will see how long it takes to repair. Current time of ownership to in shop for repairs is sitting at 86% and dropping (3 days in shop and 21 days of ownership)

99% doesn’t seem to be the metric I am working with personally

You said the battery read 0%? Several of us have run into that. Most likely, the BMS is failing to wake up or is just dead altogether. A few others and I who have run into this were fortunate enough that the system righted itself after a day or so. If you still had the bike, I'd say you could partially verify it by using the app to dump both the MBB and BMS logs. If only the MBB log file shows up, the BMS isn't talking. About the only way the HUD shows 0% on the battery are either the battery really is dead or the BMS isn't transmitting the actual value.

Zero has reached out to me and is working with my dealer. I’ve read enough to know the BMS is probably the issue however I don’t think I’d be satisfied as others I have spoken to now that have had similar issues have just been told basically “it happens, accept this fox and move on”

I kind of am more interested in understanding how and why this is an issue multiple generations in still and don’t plan on accepting a shoulder shrug agreement to chalk it up as “shit happens”…this seems to be a bigger problem plaguing their format and it’s worrisome
