14. battery
« on: July 27, 2022, 11:16:37 PM »

is there any other information on the 2020 - 2021 14.4 battery's.
This is a web site that has information about the Farasis cells. https://ibikes.wordpress.com/2020/10/27/ncm-811-pouch/
And this is a discussion I found on reddit.
from r/ZeroMotorcycles

The reason I'm asking is I have it in my mind to build my own battery some day and I am wanting to corollate all of the specs in one place.

Hey,
the specs can all be found in the unofficial manual. I think you should do some research before asking;)
but I don't mind. There is only one datasheet of the Farasis cells and it's the one on that weird website.

I had done some very deep research by changing the numbers in the cell type and I was actually able to find an excerpt from the datasheet of the 29Ah cells in a report of the North Dakota Renewable Energy Council about Portable Solar Array Modules from 2018.
I actually tried contacting them, but didn't get back a good reply.

Anyway, the data is:
- 29 Ah
- 2000 cycle life
- 3.7 V nominal
- 1.0 C charge max
- 4.0 C discharge max
- 2.75 V cutoff
- 485 g weight
- 221 Wh/kg density
- 222180 mm³ volume

None of this is very new info though, it's quite similar to the old cells.

And yet your findings fly in the face of contradiction of what was posted and is, indeed, verifiable from Zero cells. If you inspect them they clearly have a physical tag saying 32Ah, but are recognized by the bike as 28.5Ah.

I legit don't know where you are getting your values.

Hey MVetter, is that addressed to me or him?
I put my source, if anyone is interested you can probably find it.

And yet the 2018+ bikes recognize a monolith with a value of 114Ah, meaning 4 smaller packs of 28.5Ah. Why do people argue with me

The configuration of one monolith brick is as follows - 28s1p. This is one of four modules with a capacity of 32 Ah. Four modules connected in parallel is already 128 Ah. Thus, your 14.4 kWh is a monolith consisting of four identical Farsis modules, with a capacity of 32 Ah each, a total of 128 Ah. The nominal voltage of one cell is 3.65 V, the maximum is 4.2 V. The nominal voltage of one battery pack is 28*3.65 = 102 V. The maximum voltage, respectively, is 28 * 4.2 = 117V. I can't say anything about the cost, I don't know how much the battery will cost in the states. In Russia, batteries are assembled independently from NMC cells, as for example I did...

The cells from the manufacturer are listed at 32Ah. Zero caps them at 28.5Ah. Again, IF YOU CONNECT TO A ZERO BIKE AND HAVE IT GIVE YOU READINGS FROM THE BATTERY, IT WILL REPORT BACK MAX OF 114Ah. Zero uses 3.39vdc as the LVC and 4.157vdc as the HVC. Why do people argue this with me

No one is arguing with you, it just seems like you want to start an argument with someone. There's a difference between the specifications of the battery, which is what Tiny is after, and how Zero treats the battery. Take one of the new 14.4 models, yes the bike may treat it as a 14.4kW/h battery but it is physically 15.6kW/h or whatever it is. Same goes for Teslas and some other electric cars that don't give you access to the entire capacity.
