Tony I think what puts a wrinkle into your choice is the fact that you already bought the SRF.
If you have plenty of CCS around you and like taking longer trips then the SS9 is likely an all around better bike.
I just think it would be hard to justify an upgrade unless the CCS is just that important to you.
They are about the same power and riding position with a few of their own pros and cons.

If you have the funding to just get whatever you like then by all means enjoy.  But you will take a big loss on the Zero in the first year or so and then they level off until the battery warranty runs out.

Good luck.

True, and I finally landed on a decision. I would basically pay a steep price for a few improvements (faster charging and longer range being the most tangible). While other things might even be a downgrade (going from a more maintenance free belt to a chain, heavier bike, no dealer nearby to manage warranty issues to name a few)

Instead, I will explore options for updating the SR/F by unlocking features by software (reverse, faster charging, navigation on dash) and perhaps look into the power tank and instead get some top and side cases to replace the sacrificed storage compartment.

I will keep my eyes open, maybe in a year or two there will be some major improvements that warrants changing bike. Now is not the time yet.

Thanks to everyone providing insight here, it was very helpful. :)

We’re planning a trip in Norway this summer (end of June, early July). Starting at Kristiansand along the coast up to Trondheim. Coming with four Energicas, we could arrange a meet&greet if that is around where you are based!

... I guess the only way to know for sure is to go on a test drive, even though it would cost me two or three days for the trip to that only dealership in Norway.

I am following PM Motor on Twitter. A few days ago they posted this picture...  8)
It's from one of the Tesla Superchargers that is open for all (test phase).

Former Yamaha FZ6 (since 2008) now sold and find myself wanting a Ribelle.

Hi, that sounds awesome. Yes, please catch up when you are here and I'd be happy to show you some highlights in the Oslo area where I live, if I am around when you come. You can PM me on sinsro at hotmail dot com :)

That is a real good looking bike. In fact it is the exact one they offered to sell me if I am not mistaken, they just got a few display models :D

Back to the OP.
I had an SR/F (my second Zero). After a couple of thousand miles lowered the pegs and raised the bars (as much as possible, which isn't much) for more comfort. Brakes were an issue.
Got an SS9+ and sold the Zero. I like the Energica ride position a lot better (YMMV) and really prefer the Energica suspension (Ohlins) and brakes (Brembos). Bigger battery is a huge plus, too. And the Energica build quality is better.
OTOH, the Energica is top heavy, noisier,  and the 3 kW L2 charging is lame. Despite these flaws, the Energica is a better choice for me.

I have a loaner SR/S in the garage, going to commute 143km next Tuesday to see how it performs. The Ribelle is ordered already so no going back anymore, but boy is it nice to see it do 9.6kW on the 3 phase charge point here... But then again, at home or at the office I am able to charge 8 hours so 3kW L2 is no issue. On the road the picture is way different, DCFC CCS is plentiful in NL and we can use Tesla SC nowadays here so I'll find out next time I do a roundtrip IJsselmeer to see which is better: A DSR with 7.6kW AC charging or the Ribelle with 27kW DC ;)
