Zero SRS “ Remote Connect” confusion
« on: January 16, 2022, 05:14:15 PM »

I own a 2021 Zero SRS Premium and I have the Zero App Version 2.2.5(15) and my firmware is all up to date.   Can anyone tell me what the “Remote Connect” button on the App is supposed to do or show?  When I push the button it shows where I am presently at with my Apple iPhone which is in Florida, yet my Zero SRS is 1100 miles away in Pennsyvania.  When I pushed the button on the App in the recent past, it used to show me where the motorcycle was located, not where I’m located.   Please help.

Same issue I'm having on FWv20.

Zero [Factory] App:
Shows location, stuck at my house (where I performed the FW update).
Also, no SOC information.
There are further issues, described in the New Firmware thread.

Load the ZeroNG [Hans Cappelle] App; and see if you get current Location & SOC.

Remote connect has been broken for most since v20 was released. I think I recall somebody saying it's just iPhone users though, I could be wrong.

Do you know if Zero Motorcycles Support is aware of the v20 issue with remote connect?

I believe it's in iOS issue. I still have v19 firmware but my iPhone will only 'remote connect' when the bike is on or charging.

They told me they knew about Remote Connect issues, in v20.
What they didn't say is what phones (if any) actually work.
I'm assuming none (until someone here posts that their phone works).

You should still report it.
They need to know customers care about this stuff  ???

The number of problems reported with each new firmware release makes me wonder if Zero does any on-bike testing before releasing these updates to the public.  Their development procedures seem to need a complete overhaul.

Okay, Thanks for letting me know.  I’m hoping it’s just an IPhone issue, that Zero will fix in the near future.

Could be that the latest iOS app currently has an issue with visualisation of remote data. Haven't used any for a while. If you have an Android device at your proposal you could login with that one to verify. Alternatively you can check on the remote API directly to see if data is up to data there (there is a thread here about that).

I use both Android and iOS and on my own bike (no longer in my possession) I've seen the remote API break with the update to firmware version v19. Since that update the SOC value was NEVER updated anymore in the cloud. Location did still work. For the notifications most were broken also.

It did however suddenly work again once I had my charge tank removed. Likely because of a reset after having the 12V battery disconnected for long enough. So if in your case the remote API is broken you could try to disconnect the 12V battery for a minute just to see if that helps.

Remote API seems to be working fine as I can still use the third party Zero NG app to monitor SOC.

Thank You Hans2183 for chiming in.
I echo opengl; that your ZeroNG App is working on v20.
I get SOC, Battery Voltage, Charge Time Remaining, S/N, Odometer (except mi are below actual) & Location.
I also think the Battery Icons are showing Charging & Fully Charged status.

On the Zero Factory App; I only get Notifications (no other Remote Data).

Thank God [Hans] for the ZeroNG App  8)
