Tankbag recommendations?
« on: August 16, 2019, 05:15:27 PM »

Posted this over on Facebook but didn't get any useful responses (yet).  I'm thinking to getting the 6 kWh Charge Tank and looking for a tank bag to stow the stuff currently in the storage compartment.  I don't want to use the trunk because everything will rattle around in it.  I can store the paperwork in the license plate box I used to use on my 2016 S (because that one's storage area was NOT waterproof) but I've got some other items that won't fit.  At least with the Charge Tank, I won't have to carry the J1772 adapter anymore, and I can put that up for sale here (which is how I got it in the first place).

Thanks in advance!

Any generic one should work, as long as it's not a magnetic attach kind.  (Or you could get adhesive steel plates.)

I'm looking for tank-side bags, to carrys stuff, but to also protect the side plastics a bit on a different motorcycle (my Zero has the SP crash bar), I ordered this one to try:

Cortech XF-10-8230-0605-10 Super 2.0 10-Liter Low Profile Tank
On amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HFLO0DY/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This was a bit finicky to get mounted nicely, but once I figured it out -- well, it's a great bag and, IMHO, looks great mounted on my SR (I can try to post a picture if you're interested)

If it isn't much trouble, please do post some photos of it mounted and maybe how you routed the straps?

Thanks!

Any new ideas about tank bags for these bikes without a gas tank?

Wow, this is an old post!  I ended up with this one which fits my S model perfectly:

Looks interesting.  Not sure how you'd set up the TWO straps at the rear of the bag, but I'm sure you'll find a way.  My selection had a single strap.  I removed the seat, wrapped the strap around the frame rail and after adjusting the length, cut off the excess and used a match to "melt" the end to keep it from unraveling.  Then I just replaced the seat.  Easy-peasey!  The front strap wrapped around the neck tube after routing them UNDER the wires and cables so they wouldn't pinch anything.  When I need to charge, I just release the front two clips and flip the bag over the saddle to uncover the L2 Charge Port on the "tank."

Ya, I'll figure it out when it gets here. Might even use HD Velcro on the rear if I don't like where the straps want to go.
