Djihatch,

another step you can take, apart from the metered charge to full, is to compare your monolith's balance when fully charged and when fully discharged. As imbalance increases with decreasing SOC, you might find a hint towards your battery's state of health by doing so. As a rule of thump regarding cell imbalance: the smaller, the better.

My bike is at the dealer's. Maybe some news tomorrow.
My bike showed EEE on the dash on "key on" for a few seconds.
I remember reading somewhere that it was only the dash clock battery that has failed... Ans the clock still shows 00:00 from this first happen.
The dealer tells me that this happens when there is a BMS problem.

As a clock battery costs a couple of bucks and a BMS costs... A lot more ! I'd be more than happy to have your opinion about that !

Thanks a lot !

Hi !

So, here's the feedback :

I had my bike back 2 weeks ago. Battery check was ok and the bike had been set up to date.
I rode it smoothly (usually in a city, and a couple of miles at 65-70 mph).
I put 75 miles on it that way, 28 % left on the dash.

Yesterday, it was a day off, so I decided to drive it till it reaches 0 %. As 28 % were left, I decided to begin my ride on a speedway at 70 mph for 8 miles. The dash went wrong because it was stuck at 28 % for 5-6 miles. I decided to exit the highway, and then, the SOC began to rise down (25% to 0% for 5 or 6 miles !). I decided to park it safely because I was 10 miles away from home.

To day, I got it back. I rode around my block 6 more miles untill it was dead ( I had a 2 % recovery at a stop, by the way).

Conclusion :

good :

- No battery injury (from what the dealer said), wich seems to be confirmed by the 94 miles I put on it with a single charge (similar to what I was able to ride when I got the bike, three years ago).
- The bike is usable at low SOC. Best improvement ever ! There is enough torque to ride it safely. I guess that the speed is limited (can't test it, because i was in a city).

bad :

- Even if there's no SOC drop anymore (directly 13 % to 0 % as I experienced before). The last 25 % shown are not reliable... Maybe the bike has to complete several charge/discharge cycles to get some kind of calibration ?...

By the way, I've changed the clock battery in the dash and the "EEE" error at startup disapeared

Thanks for your help/support !

Maybe a bit foolish of them to publish such a claim.
In most cases, it is an accurate claim. But anything can fail at any time and not get the expected results.

The battery on my Zero DS crapped out in a few years, in around 12KM.  But such is not expected, just sometimes happens. That's why the 5 year warranty. The battery in my SR is still like new. Both bikes are the same age.

How did you change the clock battery? Is it as easy as opening the display up and replacing the battery on the circuit board? I’m assuming it’s some watch battery size? Just looking for some more concrete info before I try this myself.

Edit: so last night I attempted this myself and did a poor man’s fix. The battery is a 3v CR2032 and with the help of the unofficial manual and YouTube videos, I cut the glue off the battery and gently removed the battery from the pins (it was also soldered on). I flattened the contact pins as much as I could and since I can’t solder, I used electrical tape to keep the new battery in place. Real test will be to see if it stays put after a few rides. But the EEE error is gone and the clock stays on so I’d say this is progress!
