Should I update to v19?
« on: July 03, 2021, 11:58:19 PM »

My bike is running fine on v17. No magic charging, although I expected longer ranges (SRF getting 80 miles going 70, 100 miles going 40-50).

Any upside in updating? I am going to dealer this weekend for 4K service, do I tell them not to update it?

Thanks,
G

V19 seems to be a hit or a miss actually. Quite a few folks have had a lot of issues after updating and a few other seems to not have had issues.
I did do the update and i have not seen any major issues or behavior changes on the bike. For your range, it seems to go with what Zero officially claims (82 miles at 70mph).

So i would say that you stick to V17 for now :)

If your cellular capability is working great, then I'd skip the firmware.  Seems like v18+ breaks cellular connectivity.

indeed I was on v17 for a long time as a happy user. Suddenly forced upon v19 (luckily not v18). Had no range issues but that update did break most of my remote connectivity feature. The SOC has changed since the update and also charge state flags are gone. The GPS location still works. From time to time I get a notification on the phone from the bike but also not all of them are working.

So if that connectivity is important to you just wait for v20.

I just purchased a 2020 SRS and every time I turn the bike on it tells me there is an update but not what version the update is.  I keep postponing it but how do you know what version they are trying to install.  There is literally no info in the message.  When I hook up the app on the phone it doesn't show that there are any updates available.

TIA

That's about what I get for range on my SRF.  I'm holding on V17 given the issues many have had with V19.

Circling back around.  I discovered I had V18 on the bike.  No issues but decided to upgrade. Installation ov V19 was super smooth and no issues.
