EsseEsse9x 2-Up Experience
« on: July 12, 2021, 08:34:31 AM »

Made a subtle suggestion at the dinner table tonight and the response was somewhat positive - the only stipulation is wifey requires backrest for that 'secure' feeling since I'm averse to that hang-on feeling.

Casual touring in mind e.g. San Juan Island hopping or Vancouver BC - not freeway intensive - more like ferry intensive.

Doable?  Not doable unless a hydraulic preload is fitted to rear suspension which means custom...?  Not doable for some other reason?

Can the bike handle (2) blue-hairs @ 210kg + stock luggage at modest pace?

The bike SS9 bikes are rated for 458kg fully loaded. Even with the new EMCE motor, you will well be above that with 210kg. (Pre EMCE 9+ model is 275kg, so 183 kg load is maximum according to the user manual).

Indeed, 210kg includes riding gear and luggage not just porky carbon units.

210kg is 462lbs.  That's alot of weight.  That's like 100 pounds of gear plus my spouse and I in full togs.

And 210*2<458 so this conversation is doubly confusing.

458kg is the maximum bike, stash and rider weight. Out of that the bike is around 265-285 kg depending on which model you have (newest being the lightest).
I just measured mine on a scale for cars, and it is about 280kg without me on (That is with sidebags, screen, 2m type2 charging cable, some tools and my rain gear).

Since i weigh about 85kg (approximately 90kg with gear), i can have a passenger weighing about 458kg-(280+90)kg = 88kg.

458kg-(280kg+120kg (me, summer gear))=58kg?...well, shucks...that will never happen...

Justification for getting an Ego instead and telling the wifey sorry...Vespa makes electric, no?
