Yes, that's what I said you said.  You said to buy the one that uses extra space, has features they won't be using, and costs more.

I think most consider 1.4 KW charging on the road to be useless, for other than an overnight stop. And if you're going far enough to need an overnight stop, you're not going to get far fast with 1.4 KW charging.   So if you buy a J-1772 adapter,  make sure it will work with your charger upgrades or do not buy it at all, IMO.

Well, it's not useless, Don.

It means I can go to the next county over, charge and do something, then come back.

So like, go to the dentist, or BMW shop, or the mall.

And it doesn't require me to spend an amount on chargers and adapter equal to the value of my bike.

Just bought a 2021 Zero S..Interested in the J1772 charge adapter. Will the one listed below work?
https://www.evseadapters.com/products/j1772-to-c-13-adapter-for-electric-motorcycle-scooter/

There is so much drama, bickering over semantics, and non-communication above. How about just the facts so you can make the decision?

For $80 you'd be getting an adapter that lets you charge at an J-1772 L2 station at exactly the same rate as charging at home with the OBC. It would take on the order of 8 hours for a full charge. At stations that charge a connection fee and/or by the minute, you might pay as much as a car pays -- easily 10x too much -- so you might use PlugShare to see if there are free stations where you'd ride. Faster J-1772 charging can only be achieved using a Charge Tank or by carrying external chargers, both at a cost of up to ~$2500.

Thx, I DID order it for the reasons you've outlined. If, down the road, I buy a Delta Q what would I need for that to work at a J-1772 station? I can't find a pic that has the plugs on it. There is one video where it has to be plugged in separately from 110v plug to 4 prong (under my seat on the S). Video shows it will not work alone and OBC must be plugged in also., not good on the road and has me understanding some of the comments made a little better. Another vid shows an Elcon charger only needing one plug where the Elcon is plugged into the OBC connection on one side and a J-1772 on the other. I'm beginning to think that maybe Zero got their name due to the amount of info they put out  ;), thankfully, there are forums!

Information on this does seem quite sparse. I'm pretty sure you could get one of these:

Splitter from C13 to C14 + NEMA 14-50R:
https://www.amazon.com/Tekit-Splitter-Single-Female-Adapter/dp/B08HSMHSSJ

With 240V coming out of the J-1772 to C13, you'd be charging at 1200W (OBC) + 945W (QuiQ) = 2145W @ 9A (well within the cable current limits) and bring the time for full charge down to 4-5 hours.

I've not tried this, so someone correct me if it wouldn't work.

It will work fine. I often use  such cables but with both ends being C13, two of such cables, two Delta Q's and the OBC, with 240 VAC, with the cheap Zero J-adapter. ~13 amps at 240VAC, still within limits. I have that setup at two houses for when I only want to charge at 3KW. I never use this setup on the road as then I want faster charging than 3.1 KW.

Thx for the replies, good info! The link below is for a Delta Q charger but the plug looks wrong and the label on the side says 48V, I realize they can be reprogrammed but is this for older Zeros?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224222300252?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=224222300252&targetid=1263094004786&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9012209&poi=&campaignid=11755693329&mkgroupid=122298872557&rlsatarget=pla-1263094004786&abcId=9300462&merchantid=6296724&gclid=Cj0KCQjw16KFBhCgARIsALB0g8KuKRYq2Yab8_8Al9kyDKtoFkVKxYmPhywA0_WyYisJgKsHKmeAsqEaApJaEALw_wcB

Don't buy that -it won't work. You need a 96v charger, the link you have is a 48v. Heating fins are also banged up - that that it would stop it from working, but no telling what the internals look like.
