Zero powered airplane project
« on: March 11, 2021, 12:14:56 PM »

Hello!  I'm a motorcyclist and airplane designer, working on a new project.  The project is a single seat motorized glider, powered by the motor, battery, and peripherals from a 2018-ish Zero S.     Not as crazy as it sounds, there is an airplane put together by one of the Zero founders flying in California already.  Photo attached of the motor and battery pack attached to the front of the airplane.

I'm looking for leads on a wrecked 2018-ish Zero S, that could be used for this educational project, being done out of the Bremerton Aviation Center for Education (BACE) in Bremerton, Washington.

Thanks!  mikefriend@wavecable.om, 206-617-9804

Wow, neat!

You might ask some Zero dealers who have service centers to call you if they know of a totaled Zero.  I know my local dealer does that... They'd have the tip of what recovery yard it goes to.

You might also want to post your request in the Buy, Sell, Trade section of the forum, near the bottom of the page.

Hi, Mike; it's Allen!  Glad to see you on here and that the project is still coming along!  If a 2013 S with a 12.5 kWh pack is at all useful, please let me know!

There are quite a few of these around now. There is one e-gull in Portland (OR) area.

There is a section on them on Endless Sphere, here is one thread https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=98884
