Thanks for clearing that up, John, and for the info about your solar setup; I'm in the suburbs, so power supply should be good.

Currently at cha am / hua hin, but will be going back to Ayutthaya on Monday. And back to Australia on the 8th via BKK. There is  zero dealer in BKK too.

http://www.bv-moto.com
299 Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, Chompol,Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900
299 ถนนวิภาวดีรังสิต แขวงจอมพลเขตจตุจักร กรุงเทพฯ 10900

Nice! I have only driven through Hua Hin.

Been to the dealer here (Thailand) and had a look, they have every model to test ride. Boy are they expensive here, converted to Aussie dollars the SR is about $34,000
The S and DS only have the 9.4 kw/h battery, I guess to get the price down.

I am actually back in BBK on 11th not 14th. Bad memory ha, ha ,ha.

I have an off grid 3kw solar system with 20kwh of battery storage and when I charge the Volt off the inverter, it's perfect every time, but if I charge directly from the mains, it often drops off charge with an error and the input voltage is all over the place' I only charge the SR from the 'clean' inverter supply
Hope yours gets fixed soon. Could I ask what the cost of the screen and top box was? I'm after those as well
Cheers
John

Nice setup! When batteries become cheaper that will be what everyone will do as the savings will be too big to ignore.

I don't have the paperwork here, but from (my bad memory) each was $200+ ish. I only got the rack not top box and rack. I bought my own top box else where. Oh I should mention that the accessories where ordered with the bike and with some arm twisting I got them at cost to mototecnic.

My bike was perfect up to about 750 km. I could still ride it as it had no issues once turned on. Twice I had to turn it on twice for a normal start. Except for one time it charges up ok too, just the SOC jumps now to 100% the instant I connected the charger. If the SOC was at about 80% it would indicate the SOC correctly (not jump to 100% when connected to the charger). I also have an extra charger (from zero) rather than a power tank. I wanted the storage and low weight. Just one hour on the chargers and I get 20%, about the same as a power tank.

Although the issues are minor and did not stop me from riding, I want it all sorted while under warranty.

Thanks for that, they had no stock when they shipped the bike. Like you, I'll get the top box elsewhere.

Woah, that's insane. Hard to imagine they'll move many at that price point.

Seems like all the Aussies from the forum are in Thailand at the moment. I'm bouncing between Koh Tao, Koh Phangnan and Koh Samui . Much better than Melbourne winter.

Lol , I got here just before the cold snap hit Brisbane.
I agree Zero needs to get their pricing same world wide. Crazy it can be so different. Think Thailand has high duty on imports. Even if i send gifts to Thailand , receiver must still pay duty and taxes.

I can accept there are not many dealers, also not one in Brisbane, what i can not accept is ripping off Australian buyers and it is offensive. Here is a comparison of price difference between US and AUSTRALIA for same model bikes. (same dollar conversion, gst, on road costs). I accept Zero are expensive compared to ICE bikes, They should not be expensive when compared to themselves in other markets, need to have equivalent pricing. I am a great fan of Zero and have have promoted there product and followed there brand for the last 5 years as have many other Australians. There was great interest on forums and many wanted to but, but when 2014 prices announce many just walked away in disgust at the offensive pricing. No wonder a rebate of $3500 was offered later, which just proved over pricing. People who will buy zero are people who have research EV and Zero and know what they want. Not your averge motorcyclist, who shuns electric.

For about the same price of a SR you can buy a Honda Goldwing , I used Honda because its about same price in Australia and shows on road cost breakdown. prices from manufactures websites, QLD used for On road pricing. Other state may be different. I have added destination charges to US prices.

Australia Price
Honda Goldwing F6B
$27,060 RIDEAWAY
RRP$25,199
Stamp duty$900
CTP$280
Registration and statutory$182
Dealer pre-delivery & inspection$499

US Price
Gold Wing F6B
STARTING AT $20,499*
+ DESTINATION CHARGE: $390.00
Honda F6B $27060 vs $20889 difference $6171
Zero SR. $26490 vs $15995 difference $10495
$4324difference. Zero is way over priced.

Here is another example Honda VFR1200F about same USA price as Zero SR.

Australian Prices
Honda VFR1200F
$18,382 RIDEAWAY
RRP$16,999
Stamp duty$522
CTP$280
Registration and statutory$182
Dealer pre-delivery & inspection$399

USA pricing
VFR1200F
STARTING AT $15,999*
+ DESTINATION CHARGE: $350.00
Honda VFR1200F $18382 vs $16349 difference $2033
Zero SR $26490 vs $15995 difference $10495
$8462 difference , Zero price is way over priced.!!!!

Harley Davidson Street 500 AU$9,995 vs US$6,799 difference $3196
pick any bike model and you get same result.
Zero difference is 3x to 4x other importers, when it should same.

I guess the taxes in UK is different. I have checked them on taxmycar online.
