Battery Health
« on: March 08, 2021, 10:01:25 AM »

Hello everyone,

Is there a way to check battery health with the app? My 2015 DS 9.4 doesn't seem to be getting the range it use to. It has a little over 8800 miles. On the instrument panel I use the range and trip 2. I am wondering if the instrument panel is goofy. Today I left with 100% and rode 7.6 miles which used 12% according to the instrument panel. Around town I would normally use about 1% per mile and the range would be 100 miles or so and now it is close to 80. The trip odometer on the app said I rode 14 miles, which I did not. The really odd thing is it charged back up in about 20 minutes which normally would take closer to an hour. The app also says it needs a firmware update. It has been sitting in the garage where it has been getting as low as 40 degrees but it was low 60's when I left today. It has been like this the last few times I rode it.
I am hoping to sell it but don't want to with a bad battery.

Thanks!

Well, the instrument panel is goofy, especially when it comes to range and SOC. So there is that. But also cold temperatures really take the steam out of the battery pack, especially anything under 50 degrees F. Your odometer should be accurate unless it accidentally was switched to the metric system.  ;)

And if you haven't ridden in awhile, it'll have stale data in its logs that make the numbers jump around a little.

Thanks Crissa and Richard for your input. It sounds like I may be worrying about something that is not a problem.

Thanks again.

Yeah, one day or a handful of miles isn't really a data set.  It can cut short a day - like this last week I underestimated the energy use by a few percent and had to ride home slower instead of doing the full loop.  But it was cold, and I started at 50%, and then went up two thousand feet... It happens a couple times each winter so far.

Just gotta take the good with the temperamental ^-^

Dear Hiposw.

I think the best way is to drive the bike till its empyt and then check the BMS log. From there you should be able to see the amoung of AH that is used.
Using the amount of used AH and multiplying it with 102V, it will give a good estimate of the current battery capacity in [Wh].

with an OBDII connector you can also query the BMS for that value, see this topic (for SRF and SRS) https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=10424.msg100645#msg100645
