Unfortunately for the world, the oil industry sees this as no more than a bit of an unusual blip on the radar. Underlying demand is still ludicrously strong, though not rising so fast as they would have hoped. They're still actively out there looking for more oil. Lots more oil. Peak demand, sadly, is expected to be in the 2040s. We are all truly f*cked.

Yeah there's no reason to think gas is going away anytime soon even if the value fluctuates. There's too much existing infrastructure and need to uphold that. EV's are only 3% of the new car market, and that says nothing to the billions of vehicles and other gas powered infrastructure that aren't new.
