Interesting.  Thanks for the "Head's Up."  The Android app was updated the other day too.  Guess their programmers finally woke up from their summer hibernation?

Strange.  The dash has stopped flashing, but the app still says it is installing the update.  I initially shut the bike off and back on again thinking it was done and the app told me I had an update to apply.  Wonder how I'm supposed to know it's done?

As near as I can tell, when the display stops flashing and the contactor clicks off, the updated is done.  If you turn your bike off, exit the Zero app, then turn everything back on, you will see a message that there are no new firmware updates for your Zero. That is an indication that the update was installed satisfactorily. I think that red update message that hangs on at the end of the process is just a glitch.  ::)

Well, I checked and the bike was completely powered down, but the app still indicated it was updating.  I checked and the bike powers up just fine so I guess I'm okay.  I'll know in a little bit as I'm meeting a friend for dinner later...

Every time I've tried to update my bike the dash would stop flashing after like half an hour and it would fail. Not sure what causes it, my only idea was that it was some sort of auto-sleep thing and I was going to try strapping the throttle open to see if that would keep it awake. Then I realised that would be a stupid thing to have happen during an update and everyone else's bikes seem to stay awake. Guess I'll just have to wait until I eventually take it in for service and get the dealer to update it.

It's still telling me I have an update ready to install.  This is weird... it's never happened before.  Oh well, I'm taking it into the shop this weekend as the warranty expires in October so I want them to give the bike a thorough going-over. I also want them to run some diagnostics on the OBC due to the issues I saw this past summer (even though they haven't occurred again).  I'll be leaving next week for Indianapolis on my K1200LT so I won't need the Zero till I get back.  One more thing for them to check.

Looks like you were right, Richard.  It's telling me now that I don't have an update waiting and the numbers for the BMS and MBB are higher than the ones currently displayed on Zero's page... so they still haven't updated that yet.

It is nice to finally be right.   ;)  But that Zero app sure gives the user a load of grief when downloading a firmware update.  ::)

It looks like Zero has designed a new firmware update page, but they still are not mentioning BMS V38, which was the latest update for my 2018 S. Based upon looking at past updates my guess is that it is designed to fix a BUG;)

They added it but forgot to propagate from 2020 to 2017. Here it is:
BMS_v38

Improvements to Long Term Storage Mode*
Bugfix for battery logging in extreme conditions

Thanks. Won't affect me much. My bike never sees any extreme conditions and long term storage for me is a week long.  ;)

Just saw this now.  Like Richard, "Long Term" for me is rarely more than two weeks (if even that long).  Be nice if Zero maintained their website better though.

I have to agree. I guess updating the firmware description website page is just not a high priority with Zero. Either that or maybe they don't really know what their firmware updates do.   ;)
