SR/F computer hang
« on: November 03, 2020, 06:05:50 AM »

SR/F firmware 18. Tried to change the time yesterday and the computer hang in the Set Time menu. Has been like that since then. Waiting to call the dealer tomorrow. Are there any guidelines on resetting the dashboard computer? I could only find directions to reset the BMS in the unofficial zero manual. Called Zero this morning and they told me there is no way and I have to bring her in to their dealer. Hard to believe there is no key combination to do a power cycle of the computer.

Resolved on my own disconnecting the dc-dc controller.. Should have thought about that earlier. Of course, I thought about it after posting the question.

Do you mean the DC to DC converter? If so, is it always on, even when the key is out?

Doesn't the SR/F have a 12 volt battery?

I am just curious.

Fair question. Yes I meant the dc to dc converter. I was not sure, turning the key in my case just  turned the headlight on/off. But it did not power cycle the console. Unplugging the positive from the converted powered down the console and the bike is back now. Interestingly it booted up with the correct time. So the hang happened after the time changed.

I wonder if there is a way to do a reboot by pressing certain buttons at the same time. My Tesla M3 and Energica can do such, but I don't know about the SR/F.

I kinda expect there is a way to do it on the SR/F. But I am not sure if it will be mentioned in the manual. You probably want to check into that. It's a lot easier than disconnecting stuff.

Well, plugging and unplugging is a bit higher skill than they'd suggest, yes.

Sounds like a design issue. IMO, anything that has a microprocessor involved anywhere should have a simple way to do a soft reboot. At least until the day comes where computers never crash.
