A big thanks to the experts.
Simple aluminum rack to hang the charger on the side and away from the battery. The motorcycle is 7 lbs and $750 lighter on the front. Why ride around with it? unless, of course, you need to.
Electrical tape as caps for now, find something that works? Let us know.
Some things to add about the "on-board" as a "off-board" charger,
There are no relays inside the charger, so if you connect the charger to the bike, when the charger and the bike are at different voltages, there will be an in-rush of current to equalize the voltage between the charger's capacitors and the motor controller's capacitors. This can blow the 10A charging fuse (on the rider's right in the triangle between the battery and the motor controller) which is easy to replace once you find it behind the rubber panel.
To lower the risk of blowing a fuse, it is best to make sure the charger is unplugged from the AC input (the wall) and to have the bike keyed off for several minutes before plugging the charger to the bike.
and make friends with a skilled electrician, it sure helps!
Ride On!
