SR/F/S: "Trip meter auto resets to 0 when charged to full"
« on: September 17, 2020, 08:58:30 PM »

On the SR/F/S, the firmware version 13 brought us this "Trip meter auto resets to 0 when charged to full". I like that feature very much but I've noticed it does not always auto-reset as expected when 100% SoC gets displayed. When charging at home it seems to be auto-resetting fine but that is less so when on tour using 6KW (Premium SR/F) charging stations.

Anyone else noticed that?

If anyone from Zero is reading this, please have that trip A meter reset taking place a tad earlier, at 99% or 95% percent. Or simply as soon as 100% (or the desired charging target) is actually shown on the display.

Perhaps you have to be below a certain SOC when you start charging for it to reset to zero at 100% SOC.

Perhaps you have to be below a certain SOC when you start charging for it to reset to zero at 100% SOC.

That is a good point as it would help explain why I only noticed that problem when on the go. Still, why would one want that?

Maybe it does it when you're hitting cell balancing?

Technically, you're still on the trip when you do short charging, but 'when hitting the charge target' would be a more predictable trip point.

Have you thought of using trip counter b for shorter legs?

If you're topping off a near full charge, you may be more concerned with trip distance than range you're getting per charge. You may not want it to always reset.

BTW, you can  reset it manually.

BTW, only tripometer "A"  resets for a full charge, "B", doesn't. See page 3.56 here.

I know, and use them every once in a while, but Zero made it quite complicated to access those trip meters on the bike and they are not accessible through the App (which could do so much more BTW).

On my previous ICE bikes, all I had to do was pushing a button. As Crissa wrote, in my opinion trip A should simply auto-reset as soon as the charge target is shown on the display. And since we are on it, I wouldn't mind having trip B auto-reset each day at midnight, I am not using it otherwise.

Zelidar, I'm not quite sure but have the impresseion, the resetting only happens if the bike quits charging on its own after having reached the SoC goal.
I think I remember several occastions that the resetting did not automatically happen, when the dashboard showed the targeted SoC but charging still was going but I intervened (stop charging) with turning on the bike with the key. At least this afternoon it was exactly this way.

By the way: Looking forward seeing you at Schönau im Schwarzwald tomorrow in a week. I hope the weather forecast changes to the better  however ...

I can confirm the observation I made yesterday in reply #6.
I set the charging goal to 90% SoC. As soon as 90% was displayed on the dashboard I interrupted the charging by turning the bike on by key.
The trip meter was not being reset to 0.

Then I set the new goal to 92% (just in order to be sure the bike would resume charging).
This time I waited until the bike finished charging on its own. After that the trip meter was reseted to 0.
