EC Type Approval (EC WVTA) for Energica SS9
« on: August 06, 2020, 05:19:07 AM »

Does anyone have a copy of the EC Type Approval (EC WVTA) for the SS9 or EVA?

Good question.  I would be surprised if a copy of the certificate is made public.

The following is the directive for type 2-wheeled vehicles.

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32013R0168

Article-4 speaks to the classification or type.

L3e-A3 vehicle (high-performance motorcycle)

Just a guess.

The classification L3e-A3 (as it says in my documents)
only says that the motorcycle has a power > 35 KW

This is true - the directive only stipulates compliance elements necessary not the standards that apply.

Energica is certainly on their game when it comes to ISO standards for ECU networking / diagnostics (CANFD/UDS protocols) and leads the eBike industry with reagrds to CCS standards.  I'm thinking they have jumped the necessary hoops for selling their goods w/o DOT scrutiny which is what the certificate is all about, no?
